Welcome to Capri

It’s one of the most famous islands in the world, and for good reason. Whether you come for the shopping, the glamour, the food, the lifestyle or the history, it’s most likely the island’s natural beauty that will truly leave you captivated and enchanted. Mythology suggests that Odysseus had himself tied to the mast of his ship to resist the calling of this beautiful island, and it’s easy to see why. Rugged cliffs, stunning sea, fragrant smells of local flowers fill the air… beauty all around. No wonder they call it the Pearl of the Mediterranean.

Getting around

The island of Capri has two towns: Capri and Anacapri, which are approximately 15 minutes apart by bus, scooter or taxi. Capri town centre is pedestrian only, and easily visited so long as you are comfortable walking around. You’ll arrive at Marina Grande and can get to Capri town centre by bus, taxi, or as we recommend: the funicular, which takes you up to Capri town centre in 6 minutes. You’ll find that Capri is very concentrated: most sights are just a short stroll away from each other, and the island is easy to explore.

Capri offers endless activities for even the most discerning visitor. Enjoy nature at its most beautiful at the Gardens of Augustus, see the famous Blue Grotto to understand why Capri is the ‘blue island’, enjoy a hike at Pizzolungo with views of the Natural Arch and Punta Tragara at either end, enjoy the art of people-watching like nowhere else in one of Capri’s coffee bars in the Piazzetta, go shopping in Capri’s famous Via Camerelle and Via delle Botteghe, visit the Certosa – the old monastery – for equal parts peace and history, enjoy some of Italy’s best restaurants (ask us for suggestions – we’ve eaten at all of them!), enjoy nightlife Italian style at the island’s world-famous taverna, “Anema e Core”. Rest assured that aside from your art courses, one could never be bored in Capri.

Enjoying the Sea

Capri has pebble beaches – both free and private – in Marina Grande by the port, or in Marina Piccola. There are endless beach clubs to choose from on the island, which include restaurants and facilities for an all-day experience.

Capri’s gorgeous waters are perhaps best enjoyed by boat. You can hire a boat for a partial or full day experience around the island, and it’s one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy Capri.
